I began working in photography more than 25 years ago and started my own business in 2005, providing photographic services and fine-art digital image production for a variety of clients. Early on, I began shooting with 8x10” film cameras for enlarging to print backdrops, then switched to an ultra-high-resolution digital system, which I continue to use. I developed specialized techniques for creating unique, artistic composite photographs and convincing artificial nights from daytime shots.
My backdrop photography has been used in numerous TV series, including “The Ranch” (Netflix), “Code Black” (CBS), “Silicon Valley” (HBO), "Tremé" (HBO), “Secrets and Lies” (ABC), “Rush” (USA), “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” (Bravo), “Red Window” (ABC), “Ben and Kate” (Fox), and “Ray Donovan” (Showtime), as well as the motion picture Sisters and the Coldplay video for “Sky Full of Stars.”
My portraiture is environmental--capturing subjects in their environment or workspace.
My fine-art photography attempts to capture elusive moments in time and light, finding dramatic imagery in both beautiful and mundane locations. Quality of light is often a key ingredient.
I am based in Ventura, California, and travel frequently for projects.
